This is the official homepage for JETs living and working in Niigata Prefecture, Japan.

If you have a question about work, are looking for teaching suggestions, or just need to figure out how to get that re-entry permit, you're in the right place! We also offer area guides, common interest groups, and everything else you need to survive and thrive in Niigata.

Group A is arriving in Tokyo today and the new JETs will come to Niigata later in the week. Please greet them so they feel welcome to our community. Speak with your Regional Advisor to find out about welcome parties in your area.

Now that Canada Day, 4th of July and Tanabata are over, we can focus on the other fun events of the summer. Check out enjoyniigata.com for information on the Sado Earth Celebration and Fuji Rock.

Website Updates: In the "Life in Niigata- Resources for Current JETs-Transportation" section, you can find information about Expressways and the Niigata Airport. Also, the Events Calendar has been updated for May- August, so see what's going on around the prefecture! Oh, yeah, and don't forget to come to the forum for fun and discussions!

Check out our new and improved forum, chocked with great ideas and fun posts for everyone (that is, when all of you start creating some). Please come by and add to the forum so we can get some high traffic and then be able to phase out the Yahoo group.

Sakura season is underway. This weekend has cherry blossom viewing at Takada Park near Joetsu. Its night scene is apparently one of the 3 best in Japan so don't miss it. Please contact RA Luke for more information.

Have you seen the Niigata Charity Musical yet? No? What, are you a hater? You don't want to help children in Papua New Guinea? A monster is what you are. No excuses. Your last chance to see "The Snow Queen" is this Saturday, March 13 at the Nishi Shimin Kaikan starting at 7pm.

Niigata Charity Muscial performance dates and locations are now posted on the Niigata JET Calendar! This year's original comedic script is *very loosely* based on Hans Christian Andersen's "The Snow Queen" and features some excellent songs. Events and festivals around the prefecture are also added frequently, so check for other things going in the next few months!

Confused or curious about visa options and applications? On February 13th FREE consultations with an administrative procedures specialist are being held at the Gyoseishoshi Kaikan in Niigata City.
